EUROWILD Project
The EUROWILD Project is a two-year initiative (2024–2026), co-funded by the EU Erasmus+ programme, designed to strengthen Europe’s capacity to respond effectively to wildlife affected by marine oil pollution. The project builds on the EUROWA network (European Oiled Wildlife Assistance) and focuses on expanding high-quality training, improving knowledge exchange, and professionalising the skills of responders across Europe.
As a committed project partner, Wildlife Rescue Centre Oostende (WRCO) contributes its long-standing expertise in wildlife rehabilitation and emergency response. WRCO Oostende helps shape new specialist training modules, online learning tools, and a comprehensive “train-the-trainer” programme. The project also works closely with national authorities to improve preparedness and ensure that oiled wildlife response is embedded within broader emergency management systems.
By investing in lifelong learning, advanced training, and strengthened collaboration, EUROWILD aims to build a resilient European response community capable of protecting and rehabilitating wildlife during future oil spill incidents.
